Medical gel and memory foam conversion
om Hurley - Custom Seats offer a unique medical gel and memory foam conversion for improved comfort and pressure relief. This is a specialist product developed for hospital bed, wheelchair and even military use.
(this is not the standard blue or yellow 'motorcycle gel' you may have seen and is a genuine medical product)
It is excellent at providing support, comfort and pressure relief on the sit bones and other 'contact areas' whilst still providing a feeling of being 'connected' to the bike.
This is implanted into the seat so the ride height remains unchanged (unless requested; in this case the height can usually be increased/reduced) and memory foam adds some surface 'plushness' and extra comfort. Memory foam also helps eliminate the common observation of gel getting hot in the sun as it insulates from this but does not detract from the medical gel's benefits.
All medical gel and memory foam conversions come with a waterproof membrane (between the cover and the seat) and we use exclusively stainless steel staples.
We can usually reuse the original cover, as long as you can confirm it's in excellent condition and no major reshaping is required. Prices with this are generally £120-140 riders seat/area and £165-185 rider and pillion seats/areas.
Regarding a new cover/redesign, we have all sorts of options from leather to marine faux leather and a wide variety of design as all work is bespoke. Feel free to take a look at our social media pages (linked bottom of email) and send a few pictures that you like the look of and we can work from there.
Cost of recovering will vary depending on design & materials chosen, rough price guide can be found in the services section of the website.
*The works proposed above will improve the pressure relief of the seat, this will not necessarily solve any issues related to being in the wrong riding position. Any such related issues need to be raised prior to the work commencement. Slight adjustments to height and position relating to the controls can usually be made, but it is the responsibility of the customer to explain these issues. ie. Sitting further back or reducing forward lean.
